MIND TRAINING TEACHINGS WITH LAMA PADMA APRIL 19 TO 21, 2024
Vajra North is delighted to host Lama Padma for the first time since the pandemic! Lama Padma has been a long-time guide to the Vajra North sangha and we look forward to welcoming him once again for precious Dharma teachings.
Mahayana Buddhism (or Great Vehicle) offers simple yet profound methods to train the wind in wisdom and compassion. By practicing these methods, we can learn to open to others, develop the aspiration that they be happy and free of suffering, lessen our own self-clinging and therefore our own suffering. Ultimately, we can access the wisdom underlying all outer and inner phenomena.
This mind training is a fundamental teaching of Mahayana Buddhism, the Buddhist path that guides the bodhisattva—one who works ceaselessly for the benefit of all beings—to full awakening. The profound aspiration prayer titled Ambrosia for the Mind lays out the seven steps of this spiritual training and inspires the practitioner in practicing the path of a bodhisattva, step by step.
Lama Padma will lead the meditation and offer teachings on the key points of training the mind in wisdom and compassion according to this text by the great Tibetan master Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo.
Suitable to newcomers and to those already engaged in mind training.
